BASKETBALL CAMPS FAQ'S

ARE YOU PRESENT ALL THE TIME?

Yes!  I am at camp 100% of the time and I run a tight ship. I run all instruction of the fundamentals. I have an excellent staff of coaches, college players, and high school players. I also have excellent guest speakers.  Everyone involved loves kids and works hard to teach the game of basketball.

WHAT DO YOU TEACH AT CAMP?

FUN-damentals,  FUN-damentals, FUN-damentals!  We teach FUN-damentals such as shooting, passing, dribbling, ballhandling, defense, rebounding, and free-throw shooting.  We also teach concepts on team play, sportsmanship, and attitude along with the rules of the game.  However, the most important skill taught at camp is LISTENING!  We focus on listening and learning through positive reinforcements and lots of activities.  We are also focused on learning how to practice and what has to be done if your goal is to become good at the game of basketball.

WHAT MAKES YOUR CAMP BETTER THAN THE REST?

I am sure all camps offer something positive.  My camp teaches kids how to LISTEN so they can LEARN.  I provide all instruction and have a top-notch staff.  Everyone involved loves kids.  I teach FUN-damentals.  Through positive motivation along with repetition, kids are able to learn.  Our awards program at the conclusion of camp is phenomenal where every camper shows what they have learned.  Trophies are handed out to winners in respective divisions for both girls and boys.  Campers are so proud to walk out after the awards ceremony with their new custom camp basketball and camp t-shirt.

WILL CAMP BE FUN?

Absolutely!!!  To be good at basketball you have to master the FUN-damentals.  Through hard work and motivation, we will grow together towards the common good of creating a solid basketball player.

DO YOU TEACH BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS?

Yes!  Boys and girls are taught the exact same way.  All campers are taught together; however, awards are broken down for each age group for boys and girls.

WHAT IS THE YOUNGEST AGE CAMPER?

5 years old; however, occasionally four-year-olds are accepted if they are mature enough to handle the discipline of the camp and be an asset to camp.

DO CAMPERS ACTUALLY PLAY GAMES AT CAMP?

In the Advanced Skills Camp, YES!!  Instruction is very advanced and we move quickly through the skills.  In the Little Wizards Camp, no.  We spend most of our time working on fundamentals.  Campers have a ball in their hands the majority of camp.  We keep their minds occupied.  The Little Wizard’s three-hour sessions fly by.  BOTH CAMPS ARE HEAVY ON SKILL DEVELOPMENT.

WILL THERE BE BREAKS DURING CAMP?

There will be short breaks for water and to use the restroom.  We explain in detail during the opening session how the camp will run:  breaks, pick-up, drop-off, etc.

DO CAMPERS EVER HAVE ANXIETY?

It is common for children who have never been to camp to display some anxiety.  If you can, bring a friend – sometimes this helps as they face their anxiety together. The first camp experience can be overwhelming.  My staff and I are skilled at helping campers work through their anxieties, to finish the week and put FEAR behind them. The key is gaining a camper’s trust so the experience is a good one for them.
